The Mark Oliphant College learning community develops students as powerful learners who succeed as active global citizens.
It is a privilege to be the Principal of Mark Oliphant College (MOC), a large, vibrant and exciting Public Education Birth to Year 12 School in the North of Adelaide.
At MOC, we provide a unique one-stop shop seamless education for over 1700 children and young people representing 66 different cultural backgrounds. Since the amalgamation in 2010, we have developed a whole school culture that provided a myriad of rich opportunities and experiences and a real sense of belonging. We value our rich and diverse student and community cohort as it brings with it diverse linguistic and cultural perspectives into the lives of our children and young people, strengthening values such as harmony and tolerance and increases understanding and respect. In today’s increasingly globalised society our College prepares our young people for the dynamic nature and diversity in the contemporary world.
We have a strong commitment to the continuous development of culture and teaching and learning practices that enable each student to realise their academic and personal potential.
Our aim is to provide progressive, challenging and inclusive educational programs and environments as we strive for our students receiving a world class education. We are committed to continuous improvement and we continue to grow our practice and programs to meet the current and future needs of young people. Our school motto “The Future is Now” encapsulates our intent as a College. Our curriculum provides multiple academic and vocational pathways, and the development of transdisciplinary skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. We challenge and equip our young people with the skills and dispositions, knowledge and confidence to contribute as active engaged citizens of their local and global context.
As a College, we could not offer such high-quality education and such a diversity of programs if it were not for our passionate teachers, support staff and leaders who are highly committed to getting the best outcomes possible for each student. Our teaching staff devote many hours and boundless energy to continually improving their curriculum delivery and to our student life and extra-curricular activities. We are lucky to have a staffing mix of highly experienced and early career teachers. They are supported by an equally committed and skilled team of paraprofessional staff who focus on delivering high-quality service to students, staff and families as well as 21st Century work practices.
