What is Learning for Life?

Mark Oliphant College is an official Learning for Life Scholarship partner school.
Working in collaboration to support the education of children living with disadvantage, so that every child has the opportunity to change their future.

Who is Eligible for Learning for Life Scholarship?
To be eligible to start scholarship, a family must:

  • Have a current Health Care or Pension Concession Card
  • Have a student in Years Rec– Year 8 in a partner school
  • Demonstrate commitment to education through regular school attendance

The Learning for Life Team

Family Partnership Coordinator
Families who join the Learning for Life Program will receive support from a Family Partnership Coordinator. Family Partnership Coordinators work with families to build their capacity and reduce barriers to education. Support can include; questions relating to their LFL Scholarship, school attendance and achievement concerns, transitions like the move from primary school to high school, post– school planning, challenges that present a barrier to
education, educational support programs offers or links to community support services.

Programs Coordinator
The Programs Coordinator coordinates all programs in partnership with the school and can support families with; The Smith Family’s educational support and career programs, planning and running programs and connecting students to relevant programs and addressing potential barriers to participation.

Scholarship Money
Each Learning for Life Student received 2 payments a year, paid directly to the family. The money is used to help support their school expenses, as
prioritized by the family.

School-related expenses may include:

  • School Uniforms
  • Shoes
  • Stationary
  • School Camps
  • Excursions
  • Internet and Technology at home
  • Other items that help students get the most out of their education
