As part of the Northern Adelaide State Secondary Schools Alliance (NASSSA), our students have access to a wide range of quality courses delivered by trusted Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).

What is VET?

VET stands for Vocational Education and Training (VET). It provides students with practical skills and knowledge for employment through nationally recognised, industry accredited courses. 

VET programs are delivered and certified by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).

Why choose VET?

  • VET gives students the opportunity to gain practical skills and knowledge for the workplace through nationally recognised training delivered by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
    • Build practical, workplace-ready skills alongside their school studies
    • Achieve nationally recognised qualifications while still at school
    • Gain credits toward completing the SACE
    • Access eligible government-funded training opportunities

VET Course Areas

NASSSA Alliance offers Accredited Courses in industry aligned to Agricultural & Science, Automotive, Construction, Electrotechnology, Engineering, Hairdressing & Beauty, Health & Community Services, Hospitality & Food Processing, Information Technology and Multimedia.

Course Structure & Expectation

  • Attend VET one day per week
  • Courses held onsite or at other training locations/schools
  • Delivered by approved RTOs
  • Some courses include compulsory work placements
  • Students must commit fully and manage school workload alongside training

Costs & Funding

  • Courses are valued between $4,000 and $10,000
  • Funded by Skills SA for eligible students
  • School covers a gap fee (typically $300–$1,000)
  • One Certificate II and one Certificate III funded per student

Enrolment Process

  • Get a USI (Unique Student Identifier)
  • Explore career options and complete industry engagement activities
  • Submit an Expression of Interest
  • Complete language, literacy and numeracy assessment
  • Finalise enrolment with school leader and parent approval

Success Stories

Students who commit to their course, attend regularly, and complete all requirements are well-positioned for employment or further training. Outstanding achievement may be recognised at the annual NASSSA Awards Evening
