There was a real buzz around Mark Oliphant College as the gym was transformed into a vibrant marketplace for this year’s Year 6 Enterprise Day, with students proving they have what it takes to be the next generation of entrepreneurs.

From the moment the doors opened, eager customers flocked to the colourful stalls, browsing an impressive range of baked treats, refreshing drinks, handmade crafts, games and lucky dips. The excitement was contagious, with queues forming at popular stalls and many businesses selling out well before the end of the day.

Behind every successful stall was weeks of planning, collaboration and creativity. Working in teams, students developed business ideas, created budgets, designed advertising, priced their products and prepared for the big day. Enterprise Day gave students the opportunity to apply their classroom learning in a meaningful real-world setting while developing valuable life skills.

Throughout the event, students confidently promoted their products, managed transactions, solved problems and provided outstanding customer service. Their enthusiasm, resilience and teamwork were on full display as they adapted to the demands of running a successful business.

“It was amazing to see so many people buying our products,” one Year 6 student said. “We worked really hard, and it felt great when everything sold out!”

While the event raised valuable funds for future school projects and activities, its greatest success was the authentic learning it provided. Students gained firsthand experience in financial literacy, communication, teamwork, critical thinking and entrepreneurship—skills that will support them well beyond the classroom.

A huge congratulations to all of our Year 6 students for embracing the challenge with such creativity, confidence and determination. Their hard work made Enterprise Day one of the highlights of the school year and demonstrated what can be achieved when learning is brought to life.

We also extend our thanks to the staff, students and families who supported the event and helped make the day such an outstanding success.
